Advent 2022, December 19: Make-Ahead Monday, A Simple Linen Tablecloth and Shibori Tie-Dyed Napkins

Table Linens for Christmas Dinner!

Today, we’re going to be making simple table linens for our Christmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fishes and for our Sunday Spread. First, I’ll use the serger skills I picked up at Friday’s Serger Essentials class at The Workroom to create a simple tablecloth from some chartreuse linen I picked up several months ago. Next, we’ll use some Shibori Tie Dye techniques [see the first three techniques in the video below] to dye some plain white cotton table napkins in a coordinating chartreuse. Our supplies for the latter project are: six 100% White Cotton Napkins from Home Sense, a packet of Jacquard i-dye in Chartreuse, Rubber Bands, Cotton Twine, Cardboard, Binder Clips, and a large Cooking Pot.

I can’t wait to see how our holiday table turns out!

Here’s a helpful Shibori video by Justine Silva:
