Happy Christmas Eve! It’s time for SSJ’S annual Christmas Eve Checklist, preceded by the 2024 Menu for our annual Feast of the Seven Fishes. After last year’s epic F7F, we’ve decided to shift from an elaborate menu to a small-plates edition. Tapas it is for 2024!
To be honest, we already completed a few of the food-oriented tasks on this year’s checklist to make life that much easier (see ☑ boxes). And yesterday, on the fly, I made a mini-Bûche de Noël Ice Cream Cake using my Rehrucken pan, one 1.5L container of Kawartha Candy Cane with Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream, homemade Hot Fudge, and Oreo Crumble, using Sally’s Ice Cream Cake Assembly and Fudge/Oreo recipes as guidelines. Since it’s not my recipe, I won’t be publishing it on SSJ, obvi.

☑ Marinate the Miso Black Cod for our Feast of the Seven Fishes
☑ Blend the Green Tahini Crème
□ Make the Anchovy-Stuffed Olives
□ Power nap
□ Neighbourhood tramp with Nimue
□ Light lunch
□ Set the table for the evening feast
□ Carols at the piano
□ Hot Wassail and a Christmas movie

□ Unmold and decorate the Ice Cream Mini-Bûche de Noël and refreeze
□ Plate the cold and tinned dishes and prepare the mise-en-place for the hot
□ Dress up and have an Elemental & Cider
□ Cook the Miso Black Cod, Mussels Fra Diavolo, and Gambas Al Ajillo
□ Shuck the Oysters
□ Pop the Christmas crackers
□ Enjoy the Feast of the Seven Fishes
□ Card or Board Games at the cleared table
□ Ice Cream Mini-Bûche, Christmas cookies and the Perfect Eggnog Cocktail
□ Howl at the moon with the dog
□ Leave cookies, milk, & carrots for Santa and the Team
□ Adult siblings watch Star Wars: A New Hope in the basement…the legend continues
□ Late night cocktails and more radio for R&B!
