This year’s New Year’s Eve film fest will consist of movies that take place on a train or which feature a train scene as a main plot-point. Since we’ve already done a few Hitchcock-heavy marathons, and since we’re not interested in tackling nuclear disasters, epidemics, or bloody westerns, our New Year’s fare will largely consist of drawing room mysteries re-located to the dining car, peppered with a few salient shorts and documentaries. To go with, we’ll be dining on some sous vide lobster tails, dry fried green beans, a “leftovers” cheese and charcuterie board, the last of the Christmas cookies, cocktails (my new fave is 1 oz Pimms, 1 oz Rye, 3/4 oz lemon, 3/4 oz simple syrup) and tons of apple cider for the kids. Sometime soon, I’ll get around to that baked Alaska, but not before midnight.
