Holiday Tarot Sketch Sesh
For our final Friday Crafternoon in SSJ Advent 2023, we’re going to have a sketch session. Granted, when one thinks of Christmas, Tarot Cards are NOT the first things that come to mind. But, inspired by one of the fellow artists at Blaise’s book launch earlier this year, who designed her own deluxe set, I thought it might be fun to try our hands at redesigning one of the lighter-hearted major or minor Arcana (ie probably not Death or The Hanged Man, more like the Moon or Temperance, pictured above). So, today we’ll gather whatever art supplies we have on hand and get to work on a major redesign of one or more cards. Now, does this have to be Christmas themed? Will The Empress appear as Mrs. Santa or Santa as The Magician? If that’s your pleasure, sure. But need it be? Absolutely not. Perhaps we’ll save these sketches for next year’s holiday cards! Or perhaps we’ll transform them into devotional candles or tea towels. Who knows?

Bonus: St. Lawrence Market Cheese Tour
As fans of Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market, we know how crowded it gets during the holidays. But we’re also going to bundle up today and head out to our favourite cheese mongers for a little tasting and to gather supplies for our annual Christmas Day charcuterie board. We’re also on a specific mission to gather supplies for our Christmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fishes which promises to be bigger and better than ever!
