New Year’s Eve Film Fest, 2018: Train Movies [Advent Calendar Bonus Post]
TRAIN FILMS!!!
THIS YEAR’S NEW YEAR’S EVE FILM FEST WILL CONSIST OF MOVIES THAT TAKE PLACE ON A TRAIN OR WHICH FEATURE A TRAIN SCENE AS A MAIN PLOT-POINT. SINCE WE’VE ALREADY DONE A FEW HITCHCOCK-HEAVY MARATHONS, AND SINCE WE’RE NOT INTERESTED IN TACKLING NUCLEAR DISASTERS, EPIDEMICS, OR BLOODY WESTERNS, OUR NEW YEAR’S FARE WILL LARGELY CONSIST OF DRAWING ROOM MYSTERIES RE-LOCATED TO THE DINING CAR, PEPPERED WITH A FEW SALIENT SHORTS AND DOCUMENTARIES. HERE’S THE LIST OF FILMS THE FAMILY CAME UP WITH TOGETHER:
TO GO WITH, WE’LL BE DINING ON SOME SOUS VIDE LOBSTER TAILS, DRY FRIED GREEN BEANS, A “LEFTOVERS” CHEESE AND CHARCUTERIE BOARD, THE LAST OF THE CHRISTMAS COOKIES, COCKTAILS (MY NEW FAVE IS 1 OZ PIMMS, 1 OZ RYE, 3/4 OZ LEMON, 3/4 OZ SIMPLE SYRUP) AND TONS OF APPLE CIDER FOR THE KIDS. SOMETIME SOON, I’LL GET AROUND TO THAT BAKED ALASKA, BUT NOT BEFORE MIDNIGHT.
