OUR NEW YEAR’S EVE 2021 FILM FEST THEME IS … SWASHBUCKLERS
On January 1, 2021, we learned about an old/new tradition. Apparently, on New Year’s Day, a large portion of the Swedish population watches the 1982 made-for-TV movie Ivanhoe, starring Sam Neill. Who knew? Well, since we were house-bound, we tried it out. We had a laugh and then some!
As a fan of all things sword-fight, with a side of princess-sleeves, I knew we’d have to make Swashbucklers a priority for the next New Year’s Film Festival! So, this year, we’ll be watching as many Swashbucklers as possible.. And, since we’ve been at this NYE film-fest since time-immemorial [See the full list at the bottom of this post] we’re extending the “fest” another 24 hours, to fit in as many films as possible.
As usual, we’re ordering from our favourite local Chinese restaurant and tipping as large a percentage of the bill as we can possibly manage. And we’ll be popping small bottles of bubbly at midnight, seeing who can shoot their cork out furthest into the backyard!
