Sewing Goals 2023

While I’ve kept up with documenting my makes, I haven’t sketched out a sewing planner in a few years. So, last weekend, I took the time to do some [granted very wobbly] sketching to imagine my next handmade contributions to the wardrobe and the house.

Here are my Sewing Goals for 2023 [and beyond]!

  1. A self-drafted slim-strapped with-said-thin-straps-very-close-to-the-arm pinafore in black
  2. A self-drafted or pattern-hacked cropped vest pinafore in a busy print like the Rifle Camont
  3. A pattern-hacked Superbison Dune Dress turned into a pinafore in Blue Corduroy
  4. McCalls 7974 in a sheer or dotted fabric with an added slip
  5. The Papercut Rise Turtleneck extended to a dress or the True Bias Nikko Dress [I’d have to buy this pattern] in Mind the Maker Stray Lines Noir Knit. [This is a total homage to the Nikko made by Joliesbobines on insta!]
  6. A green velvet tuxedo jacket
  7. A green velvet vest
  8. Green velvet trousers
  9. A black velvet foulard [scarf]. Did you know that foulard can be a thin scarf OR a repeating design/print on a fabric? I like both concepts, obviously.
  10. A leopard print faux fur muff. [Also, Vogue #Muffspo from 2015.]
  11. My first quilt shall be a self-drafted Hamsa / Evil Eye quilt
  12. Zippered pouches for all the things
  13. A scallop-edged long-handled tote for piano music [inspired by Rosery Apparel]
  14. The Papercut Maya Cami Dress in a silky pink jaquard for Bea
  15. A garment bag [inspired by the lovely L!] but also like a ready-to-wear model I saw which zips and folds into a triangle/duffle
  16. Another Paper Theory Block Tee, longer and with pockets
  17. More Pauline Alice Romero Trousers, ie the world’s best sailor pants or also perhaps a trial run of the Merchant & Mills Quinn Trousers [I’d have to buy this pattern]
  18. A cropped knit cardi
  19. Matching knit wide legged lounge pants
  20. A heap of Liberty London print handkerchiefs
  21. A flowy blouse like the Merchant & Mills Omilie [I’d have to buy this pattern] or the Nani Iro Work Shirt from her Sewing Studio book, but with an additional high collar for either
  22. A really really really pretty silk or flimsy cotton self-drafted smoking jacket / robe with a luxuriously wide belt
  23. The Pattern Fantastique Vali Dress x2 in a blue-green combo and a black double gauze.
  24. A wider-necked Paper Theory LB Pullover in thrifted hex quilt
  25. A self-drafted poofy ie quilted vest with cool seam binding and probably more heart pockets [np]
  26. Self-drafted bell-sleeved maxi dress with rope detail at the high waist
  27. Helen’s Closet Blackwood Cardigan to coordinate with #29
  28. More Closet Core Pietra Pants in wild and wacky canvas patterns
  29. Beth Dutton plaid slip dress, possibly using the Maya pattern, above
  30. Criss Wood Envelope Dress in stripey beach toweling
  31. Black knit self-drafted snood for NEXT winter
  32. Sew House Seven Tea-House Dress in a black and white ikat
  33. Hack a Sew House Seven Toaster Sweater into a dress in bamboo fleece
