Top 20 Gifts for the Kitchen from the One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale #ooakx17

Today, I had a chance to attend the opening of Toronto’s One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale, and I fell in love with a slew of things kitchen-related. Here’s a list of things I purchased or that I’m dying to go back for.

Top 20 Gifts for the Kitchen from #ooakx17

1-3: Calendar Tea Towels

I really, really love a good calendar tea towel. Frankly, dear reader, I hoard them. I picked up 3 amazing 2018 calendar tea towels from perennial favourites Avril Loreti, Keephouse, and Bookhou.

2018 Tea Towel, Avril Loreti (U29), 2 or more for $20 each

2018 Tea Towel, Keephouse (019), $28

2018 Tea towel, Bookhou(O05), $18

4-6: Just Plain Gorgeous Tea Towels

The tea towel obsession continues with a gorgeous owl towel from #ooakx17 newcomer Gold and Ginger, a mysterious yellow fungi print from Hatchet Made, and Avril Loreti’s matchsticks and pom pom tea-towels.

Owl Tea Towel, Gold and Ginger (o51), $32

Fungi Tea Towel, Hatchet Made (Y11), $20

Matchsticks Tea Towel and Pom Pom Tea Towel, Avril Loreti (U29), 2+ for $20 ea

7-9: Ceramics

The kitchen love spreads into this lovely colander-style fruit bowl from Dompierre, Mena Dragonfly’s Fuck It mug (at long last) and its coordinating shot glass (for good measure), and east end local Thomas J. Suh’s inspiring cup.

Passoire à fruit, Dompierre (V05), $36

Fuck-it Mug and Shot Glass, Mena Dragonfly (U39), $35 and $15

Cup, Thomas J. Suh (W10), $25

10-11 : Wood

Among the gorgeous wood offerings at #ooakx17 were Okopo’s zeppelin-shaped citrus reamers (I took home the dark version) and Dave Schonberger’s elegant charcuterie boards at Ottercreek Woodworks (giving Santa a strong hint about those).

Citrus Juicer, Okopo (B30), $26

Black Walnut Charcuterie Board, Ottercreek Woodworks (U46), prices vary.

12-16: Comestibles

Food gifts are in abundance at #ooakx17.  I’ll be giving the Heritage Bee and Clearview Tea Gift Set to a very special teacher. I’m thinking of throwing Alicja Confections’ Ramen Bowl and Wasabi chocolate bars into several stockings. And well, who can resist Foie Gras, Jam, or Ghee?

Holiday Gift Set, Heritage Bee and Clearview Tea, (H48) $32

Ramen Bowl and Wasabi Chocolate Bars, Alicja Confections (G23) $8.99 ea or $49.99 for 6

Foie Gras D’Oie, La Ferme Quebec-Oies (H29), $30

Blueberry <3s Lavender Mint Jam, Penny Candy Jam (G45), $12 or 3 for $35

Brown Butter Ghee, Lee’s Provisions (G50), $25
HEY! You can use this to make my Roasted Cauliflower Mash with Brown Butter Ghee!

17-18: Paper

If you can’t get your hands on one of their almost-out-of-stock Wonton Christmas Cards, the food-themed tags from Gotamago will give you palpitations, as will the easy-as-putting-a-tag-on-it wine tags from I’ll Know It When I See It.

Wonton Christmas Card, Dim Sum Gift Tags, Food Lover Gift Tags, Gotamago (W50), $5 card, $10 each tag set

Wine Tags, I’ll Know It When I See It (N16), $3.50 each

19-20: Clean and Calm

I was charmed by newcomer SeaLuxe’s body care products. While not explicitly for the kitchen, their citrus soap will be the bar I’ll keep by the sink to scrub up this holiday season. And, dear Santa, I’d just love to burn one of Salt Spring Island’s Neptune Massage Candles while I cook!

Citrus Soap, SeaLuxe (X12), $8

Neptune Massage Candle, Salt Spring Island Candle Company, (E48), $20

The One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sale runs from November 23 to December 3 at the Enercare Centre, Exhibition Place, Toronto. Check the show’s website for ticketing and hours.
