Round up your jingle bells, your train whistles, and all your best sound props! Inspired by last Sunday’s radio listening party and by a recent screening of Murder on the Orient Express, we’re going to improvise and record a 30-Minute Christmas Radio Play tonight.
Our focus will be on a mysterious murder or theft onboard a train that’s been weaving its way through a snowy route on Christmas Eve.
We’ll spend exactly five minutes generating the names and basic identities of our inspector and our very suspicious characters (at least two per family member) as well as that of our “victim” and what looks to be their manner of death (or the disappearance or their loot). And, we’ll call out and write down the first 10 Christmas foods, activities, and objects that come to mind, vowing to incorporate them, somehow, in our radio drama. What’s the name of our train, for instance? And is there a “seasonal” murder weapon?
