Advent Day 21, 2020: Two-Colour Linocuts

Picasso with his linocuts

Today, we’re going to make two-colour linocuts [in holiday colours]. I’m leaving this one to my spouse to organize, because print-making is his specialité!

For this project, we will use linoleum carving tools, linoleum blocks, a brayer, a piece of plexi for rolling the ink, two colours of inks, paper to print upon, and something to weigh the paper down.

Here’s a swoon-worthy example of a two-colour linocut. Notice how the red and green overlap to make a darker orangey-red?

Printed from Original Linocuts by Thomas Siemo at Carpe Plumbum .
