Spring Sewing Goals and Me Made May 2025

It’s May, and I’m finally getting back to long-delayed sewing projects!

Me Made May 2025

First off, I’ll be participating in Me Made May 2025. Me Made May is an initiative started by Molly Sheahan (@sewzo on insta) to help sewists improve their understanding of their relationships with sewing, with their handmade wardrobe, and with the environment. People participate in myriad ways, some by posting a me-made outfit each day on social media, some by pledging to find new ways to mend and wear their well-loved makes, and some by finishing long delayed projects.
The project is meant to be flexible: Do Me Made May Your Way.

Here are my Intentions for Me Made May 2025

Spring Sewing Goals 2025

With this month-long assignment in mind, here are the sewing projects I’ll be tackling over the course of the Spring and, likely, long into Summer.

My Spring Make Nine 2025

  1. Vintage 1970s McCalls M8492 Blouse in a Liberty Tana Lawn. The wide, pointy collar on the front of this top, with no extension onto the back of the neck, is truly amazing.
  2. Miss Make Clava Quilt in Kona Solids from The Workroom for a friend. The image shows the baby quilt size. I’ll be making a modified version of the throw size, and double-sided, if I can manage it.
  3. Studio Sadoe Foxglove Slipdress in deadstock Reformation floral print for my daughter’s grad.
  4. Vogue Vintage DVF V2000 Wrap Dress in black ponte from my stash. Black and long sleeved, just in time for summer? Ha!
  5. Papercut Patterns Pinnacle Top in a nani Iro remnant from my stash. With a bit more quilting experience, I hope to sail through the fussy triangular bits. A girl can dream.
  6. Pattern Fantastique Valli Dress or top in double gauze from my stash. For the puffed sleeves!
  7. Merchant and Mills Hattie & Ellis Dress or top in thrifted fabric. The neckline on this pattern is such a vibe. Saw a Sewing bee contestant sporting one and making another for a challenge and was entranced.
  8. A modified version of Barbara Brackman’s Lincoln Museum Quilt in a brighter, lighter colourway, for my daughter. This features a mix 16 patch square and star blocks. Her Pinterest pick, my challenge.
  9. Merchant and Mills sailor-inspired Quinn Trouser in denim from my stash. All the sailor pants, all of them.

Happiness is a Threaded Needle!
